Primary Authority Partnership working for Fire Safety during Covid-19

Covid-19 has made for some very challenging times for business leaders at a time when anything was other than business as usual.  Enforced closure, new regulation, regular updates to guidance, social distancing, cause, and effect of interim decision making at board level has made for very difficult operating conditions.

Working in partnership, Cineworld PLC were able to discuss their plans for fire safety freely and openly with Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.  One of the biggest challenges was complying with government regulation without jeopardising the business commitments to their fire safety precautions.

Challenges

Operating from more than 120 cinema venues across the UK and Ireland, the challenges of Covid-19 required the business to think outside the box to ensure customer safety.  The routine fire safety precautions, the policy and procedures, the staff training and the fire emergency plan needed to accommodate the new guidance and still meet the core requirements for compliance.

Solution

Thanks to an established Primary Authority partnership for fire safety, the business was able to define the challenges, prioritise them, work the potential solutions and reach a conclusion on what actions to take.

Benefits

The benefits of partnership working allowed the business to share its conclusions and discuss the impact on compliance before implementation.  The discussion process allowed the business to define the challenges for fire safety, to quickly and effectively refine the solutions and to check for areas of non-compliance.
