Central Programme Office Conference

The NFCC’s Central Programme Office (CPO) hosted its inaugural conference in Birmingham on 28th and 29th June, attracting senior level strategic officers from most UK fire and rescue services. Together with members of the CPO team, speakers included:

  • Roy Wilsher - Chair, National Fire Chiefs Council
  • Ann Millington - Chief Executive, Kent Fire and Rescue Service
  • Phil Loach - Chief Fire Officer, West Midlands Fire Service
  • Chloe Dunnett - Head of Fire Strategy and Reform Unit, Home Office
  • Simon Routh-Jones - HM Chief Inspector of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, HM Fire Service Inspectorate

The objectives of the conference were to:

  • Raise awareness of the programmes, projects and products that will deliver the NFCC strategic commitments and annual plan
  • Explain the purpose of the proposed professional standards, and describe how each programme will contribute to the overall professionalism of the service through their integration
  • Explain how the CPO will operate, and the collaborative relationships with other NFCC hubs and projects
  • Explain the benefits of the CPO, its working culture and the opportunities it presents to develop future leaders, and shape national work
