Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is here to serve the people of Berkshire and we want to recruit, retain and develop people to ensure we create a safe, professional and capable workforce, who can provide a fit for purpose service, 24/7, 365 days a year

We have 18 stations covering an area of around 125,914 hectares, from Slough and Langley in the east along the M4 corridor to Lambourn and Newbury in the west. We employ more than 600 staff serving a population of approximately 860,000 people.

We are seeking to appoint two individuals of exceptional calibre to the position of Area Manager who will join our senior leadership team and help deliver an efficient and effective service to the people of Berkshire.

We are seeking applications from highly motivated individuals who are open to change and looking for the opportunity to lead and develop within Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Depending on your skills and experience, we have flexibility on the key responsibilities of each role for the right candiadate.

These posts will be an ideal career move for an ambitious manager who is people focussed and who has delivered strategic change in a complex and dynamic organisation;

  • Someone with proven leadership and communication skills
  • A passion for improving and delivering services for the public 
  • Competent tactical level incident commander with significant experience of Incident Command at Level 2
  • An understanding of the wider issues affecting the sector

A relocation package and lease car scheme are also available. The post holder will be expected to provide operational cover and therefore live within reasonable travelling distance of Royal Berkshire.
