Driving Instructor - Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (REF: DI:GFRS)

Pay - £25,463 - £32,233 pro rata 50% job share

Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service are seeking a highly motivated and flexible individual to join the Service’s Learning & Development team as a driving instructor located in Fire Service Headquarters, Waterwells, Gloucester.

The role will involve instructing firefighters in driving Large Good Vehicles (LGV) and prepare them for the relevant tests. Other duties will include the provision of initial and periodic refresher training on emergency response driving and will involve thematic training to assist in maintaining the high level of driving standards required of the Service.

Essential skills and qualifications

A good communicator who will complement the core values of the Service.

Hold a current Driving Licence (Without any outstanding convictions)

ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) (Or willing to complete the ADI course)

LGV licence (Or willing to undertake LGV Exam)

Desirable attributes

Experience of emergency response driving

Teaching and presentation skills e.g. PTLLS

Assessor Award (A1 or equivalent)

This is a 50% job share that covers a 37 hour week pro rata, with core working hours from 0900 – 1630. Due to the nature of the role there will need to be flexible, to include working occasional evenings and weekends to facilitate driving courses outside of core hours.
