Health & Safety Specialist Advisor - UKRO Volunteer role (REF: HSSA UKRO)

Listed 17 July 2019

The United Kingdom Rescue Organisation (UKRO) is a charity committed to improving rescue standards throughout the UK; bringing together the UK’s rescue services and developing their skills to serve the public.

We organise an annual Challenge for showcasing the skills and talents of the UKFRS in Extrication, Trauma, Rope, Water and USAR.

We are looking to enhance our H&S Team by recruiting a volunteer from a Fire and Rescue Service to take on the role of Health & Safety Specialist Advisor.

You will be responsible for advising the Director of Corporate Services on the H&S risks facing the charity; providing technical support to other members of the H&S Team in developing risk assessments and the safe delivery of the Challenge events; liaising with the host to assure the Challenge Health & Safety arrangements; and attending the Challenge as the UKRO’s H&S Lead and part of the Silver Command team.

You should have a H&S qualification, training and experience as a H&S practitioner.  It is essential that you have the support of your Service to pay your expenses and allow you time off.  You must be able to attend 4 Challenge Committee Meetings a year; the Challenge from Wednesday to Sunday; and spare 0.5 days a month to UKRO.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of advancing professional rescue in the UK and join a friendly and commitment team of volunteers.

To discuss the opportunity please contact Guy Goodman on 0798 689 1052 / ggoodman@ukro.org.

Applications should be by e mail to Guy setting out your knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications for the role and a brief statement of why you want the role.
