Health and Safety Advisor, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service

Permanent contract.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager the post holder will play a key role in the delivery of the health and safety strategy as well as being responsible for providing information, advice and support on all legislative health and safety statutory requirements and best practice.

You will be responsible for leading on compliance with health and safety legislation in order to minimise occupational risk in the workplace. They will also be required to maintain and improve health and safety performance across the Service.

You will be required to work alongside and build relationships with all staff and external stakeholders to ensure that staff comply with health and safety standards and ensure those policies and practices are adopted and adhered to, including accommodating external audits.

You will be responsible for embedding healthy and safe behaviours and improving the behavioural safety culture through training and communication. The p[ost holder will also be required to monitor, assess and measure safety performance to enable and produce reports both internal and external.

Key requirements
  • NEBOSH General Certificate qualification or relevant Level 3 qualification
  • DSE level 2 assessor qualification
  • Be qualified to conduct noise assessments
  • Experience in the role of Health and Safety Advisor


The post holder will be expected to have a flexible approach to work, possessing a high level of integrity, honesty, reliability and confidentiality. They must be able to deliver quality outputs under pressure, be able to work to time-sensitive deadlines with attention to detail and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
