This role is contractually home-based, but requires the post holder to travel regularly.

The Crime, Policing and Fire Group’s (CPFG’s) mission is to keep citizens safe, cut crime, protect the vulnerable and reform police, fire and rescue services to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

The Fire and Resilience Directorate encompasses the four units working across fire safety policy, fire reform; fire national resilience; the system for responding to critical incidents and planning for major events; and the Crown Premises’ Fire Safety Inspectorate, which ensures compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order in government buildings, Parliament, royal palaces and premises owned by or in right of the Crown.

Crown Premises’ Fire Inspectors ensure that the Crown complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Candidates must have a sound technical knowledge and interest in fire safety and risk-based enforcement and will already have qualifications and development commensurate with accreditation to the Level 4 Diploma within the CFOA Competency Framework for Business Fire Safety Regulators. Candidates must be able to deal with complex fire safety and enforcement matters effectively and without immediate support and supervision.

Candidates must also have excellent interpersonal skills and organisational understanding; be able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines; work on their own initiative and also as a team member. Competence in the use of IT based management information systems is necessary.
