Can you demonstrate experience of managing fire safety on a complex, challenging estate? Are you able to resolve difficult fire safety issues, give fire safety engineering advice and work with stakeholders at all levels of seniority?

We are recruiting a Senior Fire Safety Officer for the MoJ Corporate Fire, Health & Safety Team. The Team is responsible for fire safety at the MoJ, Home Office and other buildings which comprise of several hundred premises, including some of the most challenging estate in government.

The post holder will provide a technical and specialist fire safety advisory service. He or she will develop guidance, monitor fire safety performance and close out fire safety issues as they arise. He or she will advise on fire safety engineering issues relating to complex estate and buildings and must demonstrate a working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other relevant statutory documentation (British Standards, Approved Doc. B).

Membership of a recognised, professional body (e.g. IFE, IFSM) at Graduate level is required. IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Power Point, Word & Excel. The post holder will have good communication and presentation skills and, ideally, a relevant training qualification.

The post holder must hold or obtain CTC level of security clearance. There is scope for salary negotiation based on skills and experience for an exceptional candidate.

The role could be based elsewhere in England or Wales but will require regular travel to London and elsewhere. Part-time applicants will be considered under job share arrangements. The MoJ is supportive of and encourages flexible working and compressed hours candidates will also be considered.
