Our workforce planning forecast for the next two years has identified a number of temporary and permanent positions at Station Manager level. We are creating an appointable talent pool to recruit from for both temporary and permanent vacancies at Station Manager level. We anticipate that this appointable talent pool will last for two years, when the next SM selection process will start.

During the selection process we will be looking for positive, talented and inspirational individuals who will be able to help shape and lead the organisation in the years to come, ensuring that the level of service received by the communities of Hampshire continues to be of the highest standard. We are looking for individuals who possess a proven ability of excellent leadership across the role map to help take the service forward during a period of ongoing change.

Applicants must demonstrate the following attributes through the application and selection process:

To be eligible to enter this process you must meet the following entry criteria:

  • Substantive (permanently promoted) Wholetime Watch Manager
  • Competent in Watch Manager role (signed off as competent) 
  • Current Initial Commander level qualified
  • Operationally competent within their relevant Maintenance of Competence Scheme
  • Not subject to a live warning for capability or disciplinary at point of application
  • Have a full driving license
  • Live or be committed to move to live within County border
  • Applicants without an intermediate command qualification must be able to attend the Intermediate Command test of potential approx. 1 hour in the week of 28 January 2019 to 1 February 2019 - no dates past this specific week will be available
  • Applicants must be able to attend the Promotion Board approx. 2.5 hours in the week of 11 February 2019 to 15 February 2019 - no dates past this specific week will be given
  • If successful, any external applicants will be required to complete a full HFRS intermediate command assessment together with fitness and medical test, before appointment would be offered.
