Road Safety Lead Officer

The current lead officer for Road safety Sean Bone-Knell is due to retire from Kent FRS in March 2020 and therefore his post as the NFCC Road Safety lead officer reporting into the Prevention Coordination Committee will be vacant from early in 2020 to allow for an effective handover.

This post involves the following key aspects;

  • Attendance at national meetings with Department for Transport, ROSPA, National Police Chiefs Council,  Association of Ambulance Chief Executives  and Brake the Road Safety Charity.
  • You will also be involved in supporting the action plan for the DfT Revised Road safety Statement with the focus on four key areas of Young Drivers, Older Drivers, Motorcycles and Rural Roads.
  • The annual Road safety week provides an opportunity for you to bring together and ensure FRS across the Country are informed and active in this area.
  • Responsibility for the NFCC Road Safety Workplace communication portal is also a vital method

The post reports to Chief Fire Officer Neil Odin as the Chair of the Prevention Coordination Committee and this meets quarterly, usually in the London or West Midlands locations.
