Comprehensive Spending Review Strategic Lead (REF: CSR)

Comprehensive Spending Review Strategic Lead

An exciting opportunity is available to lead a small team to develop and shape future funding for the Fire and Rescue sector.

The NFCC and LGA are looking for a short term secondee from within the sector to lead a team, working closely with the Home Office and stakeholders from across the sector, to build a compelling argument for Government funding for fire within the forthcoming Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), including the case for increased funding.

The CSR Strategic Lead will have the ability to recruit a small team to support the work which will involve the gathering of data to develop the underpinning evidence in support of the excellent work already delivered by the sector. Furthermore, there is the need to quantify the challenges that lay ahead in response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, Hackitt, Fire Reform agenda and the HMICFRS State of Fire report.

Working directly to the Chair of the NFCC Finance Committee, the Lead will be expected to provide regular reports to the NFCC and LGA Fire Service Management Committee. Attached are the Job Description and Person Specification which provide further information.

The secondment is expected to begin in March and conclude within 6-9 months. The successful applicant will be able to work flexibly with the expectation of spending 2 days per week within the Home Office, London. Salary will be negotiable depending on the current level of pay and relative experience.

Written expressions of interest alongside a CV are requested by noon on 14 February and should be sent to Lea-Anne.Abbiss@notts-fire.gov.uk outlining how you believe you can meet the specification. Expressions of interest must be no more than two sides of A4 and must also confirm that your Chief Officer supports your release on secondment.

If you would like further information or to discuss the role in more detail please contact John.Buckley@notts-fire.gov.uk or Lucy.Ellender@local.gov.uk.
